Breast Support Services

We provide self-referred breast awareness consultations to women who are 18 and over with specialist nurses. They provide confidential breast awareness advice via a face-to-face appointment (for local women, in normal times) or secure video appointment or telephone call to any woman who wants one, without having to see a GP first. Checking your breasts regularly can make a huge difference in early detection, whether you’re 25 or 75. By learning what’s normal for you, and understanding potential early signs of breast cancer, you can make sure you get the screening, help and support you may need, as soon as possible. I had a concern appointment with Natalie at 7:30 today- she was kind, informative and talked me through all my options in a very clear and concise way. I went in feeling worried, and she put me at ease by breaking down what I needed to do to check myself properly and also by her patient and friendly manner.
I just wanted to thank Nurse Natalie for a pleasant and informative appointment this afternoon.
Natalie was welcoming, easy to talk to and explained everything very clearly. I left feeling more knowledgeable and very reassured.
Thank you!

I would like to thank your nurse very much for taking the time to talk to my daughter regarding the importance of self-checking and recommending that she sees a doctor for a lump that she had found.
She saw her doctor and had an appointment with the breast clinic yesterday who found a fibrous non-cancerous lump in her breast and reassured her that it should go within 2 years
I want to thank you again for your help

You guys do an amazing job and it’s so comforting to know that there are people out there that are passionate about what they do. Thanks for all the support.

I’ve just had my appointment with Natalie. Firstly can I just say how absolutely wonderful she was. So warm and friendly but at the same time really informative, she made me feel very comfortable and able to ask questions.
The appointment itself was really insightful, I learned things I did not know and feel a lot better equipped in checking myself moving forwards.
I think these appointments could help so many women. Even though we are no longer in a government lock down, not having to leave your house and being able to chat to a nurse about any health concerns in the comfort of your own home is a really appealing and progressive idea.

Thank you so much! I really do appreciate everything you told me yesterday and for this email today. I will monitor things very closely and see if I can start to make some positive lifestyle changes too. And yes, I have just started keeping a diary. 💕
You were fantastic and I cannot thank you enough.
Thank you again.

Last week I had a breast check awareness meeting at Coco Boo in Leigh on Sea with Nurse Natalie, which was very informative and insightful. Thank you.

Please could you pass my absolute thanks on to Natalie who called me last night.
It was so reassuring to speak to an expert nurse and she has taken a weight off of my shoulders that I have been worrying about for several months. I can’t believe it took just the one phone call to make me feel so happy and free of worry.
I would also like to say that Jan who took my phone call yesterday morning is also an absolutely lovely lady and so helpful too.

I attended The Hub, Witham for a breast awareness appointment with a nurse from the Lady McAdden unit at Southend yesterday. The nurse showed me how to examine myself as well as answering any questions that I had. I will definitely attend again if they return to The Hub and would advise everyone else to do the same, thank you for saving me driving to Southend.
